Introducing The Burlington Beats!

The Burlington Beats  is an accessible and inclusive drumline and colourguard experience for adults with a developmental disability. This innovative program will offers participants the opportunity to learn basic drumming techniques and/or flag choreography in a structured, supportive, and creative environment.

Weekly rehearsals will focus on developing musical skills, movement coordination, and performance techniques, while also
fostering teamwork, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Instruction will be adapted to meet the diverse abilities of participants, ensuring that everyone can take part fully and successfully.

The Burlington Beats aims to create a joyful and empowering space where participants can be heard, seen, and celebrated!

Frequently Asked Questions

A drumline is a group of percussion instruments usually played as part of a marching band, drum and bugle corps, or indoor percussion ensemble.

Drumlines can often be seen performing at parades and sporting events.

Here's an example of the Burlington Teen Tour Band's drumline performing in March 2025.

Colourguard combines dance and flag to add excitement and flair to the performance.

Just like the drumline, the colourguard can also be seen performing at parades and sporting events with a band, or as a separate group.
